STRIPES

Hello Everyone

Brrrrr, Autumn has definitely arrived here with us this week - the heating is on!

Sorry I was MIA last week but since last Thursday I have had the most horrible few days :(

I had to put my Sister's beautiful cat "Paddy" to sleep last Thursday, and she doesn't know yet as she is on holiday and not back until this weekend!  For those of you who know me, you will know how much I just adore cats, especially my Winston :o) and I was the one who chose Paddy for my Sister from our local RSPCA nearly 14 years ago - I am just heart-broken :((

Then my best friend sent me a text on Wednesday morning to say that her Brother had passed away - he was only 54 and was diagnosed with brain cancer just 8 weeks ago.

Finally, one of my dealers passed away on Thursday at the ripe old age of 48!!!! What!  He was diagnosed with stomach cancer just three weeks ago and now he's not here!  He leaves behind a wonderful family with three children, 2 girls aged 21 and 11 and the most gorgeous little boy aged just 2!  I just can't believe it - I am just shocked and I am angry - I just don't understand why

I'm surprised that I have managed to make a card this week, but I tucked myself away in my craft room to take my mind off everything and have put one together.

So, it's challenge time over at Totally Gorjuss and our theme for this challenge is "Stripes" - yup, we want to see stripes on your creations and you could be in with a chance to win a voucher to spend in our Sponsor's store, who this week is Crafter's Companion.

Here is the card I have made:

The recipe for the card is:

Papers:  Bazzill - Miss Teagen Sue
Stamp:  Bildmalarna - Little Winged Friends - Leaf
Sentiment Stamp:  Whimsy - Everyday Button Collection
Sentiment Die:  Whimsy - Button Die
Roses Die:  Die-namics - Large Rolled Rose and Mini Rolled Roses
Daisy Die:  Die-namics - Rolled Daisy
Butterfly Die:  Die-namics - Butterflies
Leaves Die:  Memory Box - Tender Leaves
Self-Adhesive Pearls:  The Hobby House

I have coloured the image with a mix of Copic and Twin Touch (TT) as follows:

Skin:  E21 E00 E000 / R20 R30 (cheeks)
Hair:  TT - BR99 BR116 BR115
Dress:  E97 E95 YR00 YR000
Top, Trousers, Socks:  E53 E51 E50
Shading:  W5 W3 W1

I have outlined the image with Pumice Stone Distress Ink
The papers have been edged with Vintage Photo Distress Ink

I wanted to show you a close-up image of the flowers - these are just so easy to make and it makes life so much easier when you want to co-ordinate the colours:

And that's it.

Thanks for stopping by and have a great weekend.

Ta ta for now.

What a horrible time you've had, nothing compared with the families of the two young men involved of course, but hard to deal with nonetheless. I don't envy you re your sister's cat either... we had one of my mum's dogs stolen when we were looking after them many years ago and felt so responsible, then my Father in Law died the first day my son was away overseas with my Mum and Dad when he was 12 - we decided not to tell them until they came back, as there was nothing they could do - of course we'd even had the funeral by then so my son felt a sense of dislocation from it all, all very "damned if you do. dammed if you don't" stuff! I'm sure this week will feel so much better, even if it's ordinary :-) I love your card, I'm going to have to get one of those rolled roses dies, then again I "have to get" a lot of dies, lol, Donna xx

Went back and re-read your post hunny. Missed the bit about how horrid your past week was the first time through! Awful, awful time. So sorry you've had such heart-ache all at once. Hope your sis won't be too upset on her return from holiday and well, there are no words for the loss of those young men. My daddy was only 56 when he passed away and my baby sister was 12. Far too young! He has been sorely missed every year since his passing and this year it was 13 years ago. Feel for you deeply hun and hope there is some sunshine around the corner for you. Big hugs, Wends xxx
